The MQ-6 Liquefied Isobutane Propane Sensor Module designed to detect the concentration of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) and butane gases in the air, making it ideal for both residential and industrial applications. This sensor features a sensing element made from aluminum-oxide based ceramic coated with tin dioxide, all enclosed in a durable stainless-steel mesh.
When gas comes into contact with the sensing element, it alters the element’s resistivity. This change in resistivity is then measured to determine the concentration of the gases present. The MQ-6 Liquefied Isobutane Propane Sensor has a detection range that is particularly well-suited for identifying gas leaks in environments such as homes, hotels, and restaurants where LPG cylinders are used for cooking.
LPG combustion is highly exothermal, releasing significant heat when ignited. While this heat is beneficial for controlled use, accidental ignition can be dangerous. Therefore, the MQ6 sensor is valuable for safety, as it can also be used in CNG-powered automobiles and various other settings to promptly detect and address LPG gas leaks, preventing potential hazards and ensuring a safe environment.
