The 2X2 Matrix 4 Button Module is a versatile input device frequently used in various projects. With four keys, it enables efficient user input while representing the same values across all buttons. This non-encoded matrix keypad features 14 keys arranged in parallel, allowing easy access to each function. The rows and columns are controlled via external pins, labeled R1-R2 for rows and L1-L2 for columns, simplifying connectivity.
Equipped with microswitch buttons, this module provides a tactile response, enhancing user experience. It includes four 3mm (M3) mounting holes for straightforward and secure installation. Each PCB is clearly labeled with pin designations to help users navigate the layout easily. The design uses two pins as an ‘x’ coordinate and two as a ‘y’ coordinate, ensuring precise input detection. Additionally, the module features pre-soldered pin headers rotated 90 degrees for easy integration into your projects, boosting usability and functionality.
How It Works:
To determine if a key is pressed, connect power to the rows, setting them to a high level. Then, set all rows (R1-R2) to low and check the status of the columns. If any column reads low, it indicates that a key is pressed in that column. If all columns are high, no keys are pressed.
Next, identify the specific key by testing the rows one at a time. Set each row to low sequentially while keeping the others high. The row that registers a low signal will intersect with the column of the pressed key. The cross point of the identified row and column pinpoints the exact key that is pressed.
