MQ-9 CO Carbon Monoxide methane liquefied Gas Sensor

The MQ-9 Sensor Module is a versatile tool for detecting a range of gases including carbon monoxide (CO), methane (CH4), and LPG (liquefied petroleum gas). The sensor utilizes tin dioxide (SnO2) as its sensitive material, which has low conductivity in clean air.

The MQ-9 sensor employs a cycle of high and low temperatures to enhance its detection capabilities. During low-temperature phases (heated by 1.5V), the sensor is primarily tuned to detect carbon monoxide. The sensor’s conductivity increases as the concentration of CO rises.

Conversely, at high temperatures (heated by 5.0V), the sensor detects methane, propane, and other combustible gases. This high-temperature phase also serves to clean the sensor of gases that were adsorbed during the low-temperature phase, ensuring accurate readings. This dual-temperature detection method enables the MQ-9 to effectively monitor and distinguish between various gases, making it ideal for a range of applications in safety and industrial monitoring.

DO – TTL switch signal output
AO – Analog signal output
