The KY-020 Tilt Switch Module features a small metal ball that completes an electrical circuit based on the module’s orientation. This basic sensor detects changes in tilt but does not measure the angle of tilt. When the module is tilted, the metal ball rolls onto the electric contacts inside the tube, closing the circuit and triggering a signal.
For practical use, the tilt switch module can be integrated with a digital interface and an LED. In a simple circuit setup, the LED connected to digital pin 13 illuminates as a tilt warning lamp. The tilt switch sensor is connected to digital pin 3. When the sensor detects a tilt, it sends a signal, causing the LED to light up; otherwise, the LED remains off.
This Tilt Switch Sensor Module is ideal for use with Arduino UNO and similar systems. It provides a straightforward method for detecting tilt changes in robots or autonomous vehicles, sending a signal back to the control system when the module tilts.
