The KY-003 Hall Magnetic Sensor Module operates like a switch, leveraging the Hall Effect principle to detect magnetic flux with high sensitivity. Its robust semiconductor casing, rather than a glass encapsulation, makes it well-suited for harsh environments. The module includes the 3144EUA-S Hall effect sensor, which alters its state when a magnet’s pole approaches, a change that can be easily detected by any digital GPIO pin on a microcontroller board.
This sensor is versatile and ideal for a variety of applications, including measuring wheel RPM, serving as a position sensor for machining tools, providing positional feedback in control systems, detecting magnet poles in BLDC motors, and activating magnetic alarm doors. It can be interfaced with Arduino using the `digitalRead` function with a delay or the `attachInterrupt` function, which detects state changes at the digital pin when interrupts are enabled.
