The GP2Y0A02YK0F 20-150cm IR Distance Sensor is a versatile and reliable tool for distance measurement. This sensor offers an analog output that ranges from 2.8V at 15 cm to 0.4V at 150 cm, with a supply voltage requirement between 4.5 and 5.5VDC. It includes a Japanese Solderless Terminal (JST) Connector for easy interfacing, though you may opt to purchase a compatible pigtail or solder wires directly to the module. Suitable for detecting objects up to 5 feet away, the sensor integrates a Position Sensitive Detector (PSD), an Infrared Emitting Diode (IRED), and a signal processing circuit. Utilizing a triangulation method, it maintains accuracy regardless of variations in object reflectivity, environmental temperature, and operational duration. The analog voltage output corresponds directly to the distance, making it ideal for both distance and proximity sensing. Interfacing with microcontrollers is simple: connect the analog output to an analog-to-digital converter for precise distance readings or to a comparator for threshold detection. The effective detection range of this sensor spans approximately 20 cm to 150 cm (8 inches to 60 inches).
Note: This sensor draws current in large, short bursts, and the manufacturer recommends putting a 10 µF capacitor or larger across power and ground close to the sensor to stabilize the power supply line
