The L293D Motor Driver Board is essential for various DIY robotics projects and applications, including 3D printing and steering systems for DIY cars. This board utilizes the L293D Motor Driver IC, a widely used component for low-power motor control due to its dual H-bridge configuration. Capable of driving up to two stepper or DC motors simultaneously, the L293D offers precise direction control and supports motor voltages ranging from 4.5V to 25V. The motor driver shield includes two L293D motor drivers and a 74HC595 shift register. This shift register expands the Arduino’s 3 control pins to 8, allowing full control over motor direction. The shield connects the L293D’s output enable pins directly to the Arduino’s PWM outputs for speed control, and it also supports servo motors via Arduino pins 9 and 10. Mounted on an Arduino Uno board, the L293D Motor Driver Board simplifies the design process, enhances project efficiency, and eliminates the need for a custom PCB, streamlining motor control in robotic applications.
Features:
- 2 connections for 5V ‘hobby’ servos connected to the Arduino’s high-resolution dedicated timer
- 4 H-Bridges: L293D chipset provides 0.6A per bridge (1.2A peak) with thermal shutdown protection, internal kickback protection
- diodes. Can run motors on 4.5VDC to 25VDC.
- Up to 4 bi-directional DC motors with individual 8-bit speed selection (so, about 0.5% resolution)
- Up to 2 stepper motors (unipolar or bipolar) with single coil, double coil or interleaved stepping.
- Pull-down resistors keep motors disabled during power-up
- Big terminal block connectors to easily hook up wires (18-26AWG) and power
- Arduino reset button brought up top
- 2-pin terminal block and jumper to connect external power, for separate logic/motor supplies
- Tested compatible with Arduino Mega 1280 & 2560, Diecimila, Duemilanove, and UNO
