The GY-9960-3.3 APDS-9960 RGB and Gesture Sensor is an innovative breakout board featuring the advanced APDS-9960 sensor, which combines multiple functionalities including ambient light and color measurement, proximity detection, and touchless gesture sensing. This sensor enables users to control devices such as computers, microcontrollers, and robots with simple hand gestures, making it a highly intuitive interface. Notably, this is the same sensor used in the Samsung Galaxy S5, which speaks to its reliability and performance.
The GY-9960-3.3 APDS-9960 is equipped with built-in UV and IR blocking filters, as well as four diodes that are sensitive to different directions, enhancing its accuracy in detecting gestures. It connects via an I2C-compatible interface, simplifying integration into various projects. For user convenience, the breakout board includes essential pins: VL (optional power for the IR LED), GND (ground), VCC (power for the sensor), SDA (I2C data), SCL (I2C clock), and INT (interrupt). The sensor boasts a detection range of 4 to 8 inches (10 to 20 cm), making it effective for gesture recognition in various applications.
