The 360 Degree Trajectory Ball Module Hall Effect Sensor Module is a sophisticated input device featuring four spindles, each equipped with a small circular magnet at its end. These magnets work in tandem with SMD Hall effect sensors to detect movements in the up, down, left, and right directions of the trackball with high precision. The Hall effect sensors translate these physical movements into electrical signals, which are then used to determine the trackball’s position and trajectory.
Additionally, the board includes an SMD momentary switch situated beneath the trackball, functioning as a select button. When pressed, the BTN line is pulled low, signaling the button press. Four LEDs—red, blue, green, and white—are also present on the board, capable of illuminating the trackball in any color combination, enhancing its visual appeal and functionality.
All features are accessible via a 0.1″ pitch header, and the board requires a regulated power supply of 2.5-5.25VDC to operate the Hall sensors. The trackball is firmly attached using CA glue, and the board is fully assembled with all components included. The Hall effect sensors are exceptionally sensitive, allowing for multiple high/low transitions per axis with even slight movements of the trackball. This high sensitivity ensures that a 360° rotation of the trackball, along with single-axis movements, produces about 9 transitions, making it a versatile and precise input device suitable for integrating a mouse-like control mechanism into various projects.
