The GY-291 ADXL345 Digital Acceleration module is a compact, low-power sensor designed to deliver precise 3-axis acceleration measurements with a high resolution of 13 bits, accommodating up to ±16g. The digital output data is formatted as 16-bit two’s complement and can be accessed via either an SPI (3- or 4-wire) or I2C digital interface, making it versatile for various applications.
This board is particularly suitable for mobile device applications, capable of measuring both static acceleration due to gravity for tilt-sensing and dynamic acceleration from motion or shock. With a sensitivity of 4 mg/LSB, it can detect inclination changes of less than 1.0°.
The ADXL345 also includes several specialized sensing functions, such as activity and inactivity detection, which monitor motion or lack thereof. Additionally, it can recognize single and double taps and detect free-fall conditions. These functions can be assigned to two interrupt output pins for efficient processing. Its integrated 32-level FIFO buffer minimizes the need for frequent host processor intervention, enhancing efficiency. The module’s low power modes facilitate intelligent motion-based power management, allowing for active acceleration measurement with minimal energy consumption, making it ideal for battery-operated devices.
