The Pro Micro ATmega32U4 5V 16M Mini Leonardo Microcontroller Development Board is a versatile Arduino-compatible board that operates at 5V and features a 16MHz processor. It offers 4 channels of 10-bit ADC, 5 PWM pins, 12 digital I/O pins, and hardware serial connections for Rx and Tx, making it similar to other popular Arduino boards.
This board includes an onboard voltage regulator, allowing it to handle up to 12V DC input.
Based on the ATmega32U4, the Pro Micro provides 20 digital I/O pins (7 of which can be used as PWM outputs and 12 as analog inputs), a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a micro USB connection, an ICSP header, and a reset button. It comes ready to use—just connect it to a computer with a micro USB cable to get started. Its compact design makes it easy to integrate into breadboard setups.
Like the Arduino Leonardo, the Pro Micro uses the ATmega32U4’s built-in USB communication, eliminating the need for a separate processor. This feature allows the board to be recognized by a computer as both a mouse and keyboard, as well as a virtual (CDC) serial/COM port.
If you’re using an unstable power supply, be sure to connect it to the “RAW” pin instead of the VCC pin. The board also includes a PTC fuse and diode protection for the power circuit, as well as for the RX and TX LED circuits.
