MSP-EXP430FR5994 – MSP430FR5994 LaunchPad™ Development Kit is an advanced, feature-rich platform for developing ultra-low-power embedded applications. Powered by the MSP430FR5994 16-bit microcontroller, this LaunchPad enables developers to design fast, efficient, and energy-conscious systems. The MCU operates up to 16 MHz, offering high performance while maintaining minimal power consumption.
At its core, the MSP430FR5994 features 256KB of FRAM (Ferroelectric RAM), a non-volatile, high-endurance, ultra-fast memory type, making it ideal for data logging and real-time sensing applications. Additionally, the onboard 8KB of SRAM supports advanced processing with low latency. A key advantage is the Low-Energy Accelerator (LEA), which enhances digital signal processing (DSP) operations, particularly useful for vector math and signal filtering in battery-operated or portable applications.
To support various development needs, the kit integrates useful peripherals including a microSD card slot, supercapacitor, programmable LEDs and buttons, and multiple analog and digital interfaces. The supercapacitor allows the LaunchPad to retain energy for standalone operations even when disconnected from an external power supply, a critical feature for low-power designs.
Programming and debugging are streamlined using the on-board eZ-FET emulator, with a micro-USB interface for seamless PC connectivity. Developers can access robust software support via Code Composer Studio™ (CCS) and IAR Embedded Workbench, with libraries, drivers, and sample code included.
Expansion is easy with BoosterPack™ plug-in module compatibility, supported by dual 40-pin headers, enabling connectivity with sensors, displays, wireless modules, and more.
